|The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs quantitative, qualitative and subjective lab procedures by manual and automated methods in accordance with the instructions in the technical procedures manuals. Performs routine Laboratory procedures accurately and efficiently according to the policies and procedures of Laboratory Services to ensure high quality patient care in all disciplines of the department, including the following sections; Microbiology, Serology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Hematology, Blood Bank, and phlebotomy, as needed. Providing excellent patient care through quality Laboratory Services to patients of all age groups.|
|Our full-service medical laboratory serves inpatients, outpatients and off-site laboratory referrals of all ages (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric)adding-up to 2.5 million tests annually (with 40% Outreach). State-of-the-art testing is performed in such disciplines as pathology, blood bank, hematology/coagulation, serology, chemistry and microbiology. The lab is accredited by the College of American Pathologists.|
| Education Required: |
Bachelor's Degree in Lab Related Science with national certification (Medical Technology, Microbiology, etc), or five years of successful work as an MLT generalist conducting competent work in the following laboratory settings: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology/Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Microbiology.
MT-ASCP or equivalent
| Experience Required: |
6 months clinical experience or successful completion of 6 month clinical rotation within an MLT/MT program.
2 years Medical Technologist experience within a hospital setting. Communicate professionally. Experience maintaining filing systems, logs, and research information. Prior use of Laboratory Diagnostic Equipment and/or electronic systems.
