| The medical technologist performs quantitative, qualitative and subjective lab procedures by manual and automated methods in accordance with the instructions in the technical procedures manuals. Performs routine Laboratory procedures accurately and efficiently according to the policies and procedures of Laboratory Services to ensure high quality patient care in all disciplines of the department, including the following sections; Microbiology, Serology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Hematology, Blood Bank, and phlebotomy, as needed. Providing excellent patient care through quality Laboratory Services to patients of all age groups.|
In addition to the job duties assigned the Medical Technologist, the Team Leader is responsible for participating in the hiring, scheduling, training and collaboration of the team with other areas of the department and hospital. Fosters an open working environment for easy access to express ideas and concerns. Demonstrates and expects open communications. Promotes an environment that is open and collaborative while keeping the team focused on a common goal. Builds rapport, encourages teamwork, creates an environment where employees may feel empowered.
|Our full-service medical laboratory serves inpatients, outpatients and off-site laboratory referrals of all ages (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric)adding-up to 2.5 million tests annually (with 40% Outreach). State-of-the-art testing is performed in such disciplines as pathology, blood bank, hematology/coagulation, serology, chemistry and microbiology. The lab is accredited by the College of American Pathologists.|
| Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Lab Related Science with national certification (Medical Technology, Microbiology, etc), or five years of successful work as an MLT generalist conducting competent work in the following laboratory settings: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology/Coagulation, Urinalysis, and Microbiology.|
Education Preferred: MT-ASCP or equivalent
| Experience Required: 6 months clinical experience or completion of 6 month clinical rotation within an MLT/MT program. |
Experience Preferred: 2+ years Medical Technologist experience within a hospital setting. Communicate professionally. Experience maintaining filing systems, logs, and research information. Prior use of Laboratory Diagnostic Equipment and/or electronic systems.
