Job Description


Patient Access Representatives complete patient registration, greeting our patients and making them feel welcome and aware of the process. Patient Access Reps also register patients involved in serious or life-threatening situations in a timely and accurate manner. Work may be performed for walk-in arrivals, at the patient bedside, or at a designated desk. Collecting cash, check, or credit card payments and maintaining a cash drawer are also part of the assigned duties. The Patient Access Rep also notifies and verifies insurance via phone, fax, or insurance company website. This role deals closely with our patients and their families regarding patient finances, which has an important impact on their experience with YRMC. Providing thorough and clear communication regarding financial responsibilities and expectations is required.

The Patient Access Representative obtains accurate patient identification for walk in arrivals, at bedside and/or at designated desk; explains of Condition of Admission; educates on compliance and mandated forms. Collects Cash, Check or Credit Card Payments and maintains cash drawer. Verifies/notifies insurance company by phone, fax, or website. Maintains work queues; notes encounters in EHR for follow up. Schedules and transcribes patient appointments and procedures. Conducts interviews with patient family members and/or insurance to answer questions or explain hospital policies; completes all financial assistance process on all self-pay, under insured, or uninsured patients. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
· High School Diploma / GED
· One (1) or more years of related experience


Work Schedule: 8-hours, Days, Varied
