Patient Safety Program Manager
Job Description
Summary:
The Patient Safety Manager is responsible for entity specific Patient Safety and HRO programs through the development of standard education. This individual will facilitate the entity specific process improvements that support the reduction of patient care errors and other factors that contribute to unintended adverse patient outcomes. The Manager facilitates the development, analysis, categorization, and reporting of entity specific adverse events data to help guide improvement efforts across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and coordinates a standardized, transparent, data-driven, proactive and preventive Patient Safety Program for the entity and in collaboration with the operating group.
- Coordinates and collaborates in the facilitation of committees related to patient safety as well as other teams to promote safe patient care.
- Coordinates the development and maintenance of adverse events, data collection, analysis, categorization, and reporting to clinical leadership, quality committees, staff meetings and other committees as appropriate.
- Maintains the knowledge and ability to guide, provide instruction, and provide leadership regarding High Reliability concepts and Just Culture algorithms. Participates or facilitates meetings, task forces, committees as assigned to promote a "culture of safety" and high reliability.
- Identifies potential areas for continuous quality improvement regarding patient safety, risk reduction or identified trends and reports to appropriate committees and leadership for resolution.
- Designs and implements educational presentations that facilitate the understanding and implementation of patient safety and HRO standards in the organization. Guides the provision of patient safety education at the new hire orientation, staff meetings, and other meetings.

Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree
Registered Nurse
BLS (AHA)
Preferred Education:
Nursing or other clinical discipline preferred
Minimum Experience Required:
2 years of experience in a clinical or quality healthcare environment.
Previous experience group education and/or meeting and project facilitation preferred
Ability to create and present data using tools such as Microsoft Office
Work Schedule: 8-hours, Days, Monday through Friday
