|This position assumes clinical responsibility for all respiratory care modalities. Performs a variety of diagnostic tests of the cardiopulmonary system and to determine the effect of disease and treatment on that system. Must be capable of exercising considerable independent clinical judgment in the respiratory care of patients and serving as a technical resource person to the physician(s) and hospital staff regarding current practices in respiratory care regarding effective and safe methods for administering respiratory care. Works under the general supervision of the director or the direction of a resource coordinator to deliver respiratory care services to patients in all areas of the hospital. Must be able to adapt to the particular area of duty assignment and to perform special duties required by the assignment. Special duties include provision of basic and advanced respiratory care to adult, neonatal and pediatric patients in the intensive care unit and during transport, which frequently requires making rapid decisions and assisting physicians to respond to status changes in adult, neonatal and pediatric patients.|
|Respiratory Care Services|
|Cardiopulmonary Services encompasses Respiratory Care, EEG, EKG, Echocardiography and Cardiopulmonary Nursing Support Services. The Respiratory Care Services department performs both in-patient and out-patient diagnostic therapeutic procedures for patients in the adult, pediatric neonatal age groups. This department includes a pulmonary diagnostics lab that conducts various pulmonary function tests, arterial blood gas analysis, and bronchoscopies.|
| Education Required: Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent education. Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with Arizona Licensure. |
Basic life support for healthcare providers and advanced life support certification(s) as appropriate & required for assigned areas. Intubation Certification (or obtain within 1 year of hire).
Education Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
| Experience Required: Computer proficiency (must be able to pass computer proficiency assessment)|
Experience Preferred: 3+ years respiratory care. Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record or similar electronic record systems.
