 Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Financial Planning, the Senior Financial Planning Analyst is responsible for providing meaningful financial analysis and input to the strategic decisions made by the Board of Trustees, Executive Leadership Team, Management, and the Financial Planning Department. The Senior Financial Analyst designs methodologies for measuring the relative financial impact of initiatives on the organization, assesses the determined initiative's ability to meet organizational and departmental objectives and designs strategies to promote the success of activities. Collects and prepares financial/statistical data related to operating and capital budgets and financial reporting. Analyzes financial and statistical data (and other information as required) in support of creating the annual operating and capital plans and budgets, and then tracking performance against these targets. Focus on rolling quarterly forecasts and proforma development of new and existing projects and initiatives. This role is highly visible with full depth and breadth of corporate finance skills required.

 Responsibilities:

Responsible for the development of the operating budget. Review budget requests; coordinate discussions with budget director and team regarding requests and status of target achievement during the budget process. Assist the Director in evaluation of savings ideas and new program requests including analyses on volume, gross revenue, expense, and ROI impacts. Routine reporting on the status of the gap and drivers throughout the budget process.

Promotes a collaborative relationship with clinical and operations staff at all levels of the organization; assists assigned areas in gathering data for capital proformas for new services, projects and expenditures; coordinates and/or participates in meetings with departments requiring education and assistance interpreting their budget variances.

Routinely interacts with hospital departmental finance and administrative staff and works with analytic staff to develop and produce ad hoc analyses and reports as needed.

Assists with the monthly close process including analyzes monthly variance reporting and suggests accounts for further review; analyzes and prepares a high level analysis of salary & wages, FTEs, and revenues; records other journal entries as needed.

Processes hospital-wide benchmarking; develops and maintains productivity benchmarks; assists with the development and maintenance of bi-weekly productivity reporting; collaborates with department directors to analyze benchmark variances.

Assists with profitability analysis for programs and procedures; monitors reimbursement performance for departmental charges; makes recommendations for improvements as necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree in business with major in Accounting, Finance or related field AND 5+ years relevant experience with a minimum of 3 years of healthcare experience.


Work Schedule: 8-hours, Days, Monday through Friday
