Summary

The Ultrasound Technician I is a training/orientation position to develop the skills, knowledge, and critical reasoning to that of a certified Ultrasound Technologist. The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations for assigned patients and pursues experiences that serve to establish a basis upon which to guide practice and is expected to provide safe care with supervision and guidance from experienced staff. The Technologist incorporates theoretical knowledge into clinical situations and is able to perform basic skills, carry out a plan of care, and may seek consultation for solutions. Practice is primarily guided by Preceptor, referencing policies, procedures, and standards.

Responsibilities

Performs routine and emergent ultrasound examinations including obtaining and documenting pertinent patient history, explaining the procedures to the patient, answering the patient's questions, and gaining the patient's written consent; maintains professional flexibility when confronted with the rigors of on-call and rotational scheduling. 

Incorporates theoretical knowledge into clinical situations and is able to perform basic skills, seeks consultation for solutions, and practice is primarily guided by Preceptor, referencing policies, procedures, and standards. 

Exercises fiscal responsibility by ensuring proper inventory control and prudent uses of existing resources, as defined by the department CRC. Ensures equipment is properly maintained and proactively addresses all equipment concerns.

Work Schedule: 8-hours, Days, Monday through Friday
