Summary:
The Certified Coder II assign codes to diagnoses and procedures in order to ensure proper financial reimbursement from insurance companies and government agencies. The Coder has responsibility for the accurate flow of coded information to Patient Financial Services and works with leaders to ensure correct information is sent to third-party payers. This individual codes Emergency Department, Wound Care Center, Cancer Center, Cardiology, Special Procedures, and Professional Fee accounts, in compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Coding Guidelines, Arizona state law, and other regulatory agencies. The Coder II meets or exceeds established department quality and productivity requirements.
Responsibilities:
Applies ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT codes to patient accounts.
Reviews accounts on hold for provider documentation and code when documentation is present.
Abstracts required patient elements into YRMCCare in accordance with the UHDDS and AzOSHPD regulations, and YRMC organizational requirements with 95% or greater accuracy; ensuring a complete and accurate data base to support provider activities, quality indices, and to meet organizational goals; Answers emails from PFS or other hospital departments; Actively participates in the Clinical Documentation Improvement process; attends monthly meetings, provides ideas and solutions to support the team; monitors and reconciles accounts with variances between coding and quality.

Minimum Requirements:
- CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL CODER (CPC)
- HS DIPLOMA/GED
