Summary:

The Enterprise Charge Capture Analyst reviews patient records (located on nursing floors) for accuracy and compliance of all levels of hospital charging within their purview. The Enterprise Charge Capture Analyst, additionally, will identify opportunities for charging in any and all focus areas. This individual performs chart audits, prepares reports, educates providers and staff, and satisfies any other duties necessary to meet the highest level of compliance needed for the patient record.

Responsibilities:

Performs chart audits for patient floors as assigned, reviews patients charts for order and medical necessity documentation, identifies opportunities for both procedures and supplies and enters charges accordingly.

Compiles and analyzes missed and captured opportunity data to present to organizational leadership on a monthly basis and as requested.

Works closely with pharmacy and clinical staff on clinical indications, order compliance and documentation necessity accordingly the Federal Drug Association (FDA), the Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), Noridian and other Federal or State regulations.

Accurately reviews and corrects or adds charges and works with all departments within the organization and provides educational material and assistance.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirement:

REQUIRED: Associate's Degree in a related field and 3+ years experience coding and electronic records related to healthcare OR High School/GED with Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC) and 3+ years experience coding and electronic records related to healthcare. 

PREFERRED: Associates Degree in Related Field with Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC) and 4+ years coding experience with charge capture workflow knowledge. Experience with the EPIC electronic health record or similar record system.
