Life Support Instructor - Medical Clinical Education - PRN - Days
The Life Support Instructor is responsible for presenting cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) classes for YRMC employees and selected non-YRMC employee groups. The Life Support Instructor may also be involved in presenting or participating as an instructor and/or coordinator for advanced life support classes (ACLS) and first aid courses depending on the level of training.
Teaches Basic Life Support (BLS - CPR); ensures BLS equipment is available and in good working order; teaches BLS classes as assigned; submits records and exams from BLS participants; maintains BLS instructor status. Teaches first aid and/or basic safety when requested; works to develop classes to meet the needs of requesting groups, usually non-employees; demonstrates knowledge and abilities sufficient to maintain instructor status. Ensures equipment and supplies are available and in good working order; Researches equipment and supply costs and makes requests and recommendations to department director during annual budget cycle. Conducts new employee orientation when requested; ; maintains knowledge of orientation agenda and changes that occur with the program over time; completes and submits paperwork necessary to document orientation process. Conducts Essential Safety Update (ETU) when requested; ensures equipment and supplies are available and in good working order; facilitates ETU program within agenda and time guidelines; submits records and exams from ETU participants. Demonstrates knowledge for age-specific factors necessary to perform safe and effective performance of duties; knowledge of growth and development; ability to assess and interpret age specific data; demonstrates age appropriate communication skills; possesses knowledge of age specific community resources; involves family and/or significant other in plan of care as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: Two (2) or more years related experience
BLS- American Heart Association
BLS Instructor- American Heart Association
HS Diploma- General Education
Work Schedule: 8-hours, Days, Monday through Friday
