|In collaboration with the Department Leader/Unit Director serves as the clinical expert and drives evidenced based clinical practice for all staff. Responsible for assessing unit nursing practice and its impact on patient outcomes. Leads and provides clinical direction to nursing staff in the delivery of patient care programs. Ensures licensed staff maintains an established level of clinical competency. Assumes ongoing responsibilities for the coordination of department orientation and education for all personnel. Oversees the clinical direction of unit specific orientation, staff development, skills training, continuing education, staff education records and participation in quality, safety, and satisfaction programs. Provides direct care to patients using the Nursing Process as needed to model best practice. Supports collaborative environment through partnering with unit leadership and through coaching, mentoring and counseling as needed.|

Our staff strives for excellence every step of the way, from the time the patient is scheduled for surgery, through preadmission and testing, pre-operative preparation, surgery and recovery. Our strong commitment to patient safety is evidenced by the extremely low incidence of infection in our surgical patients. YRMC offers surgical services on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. Surgical procedures performed at YRMC include traditional surgery, minimally invasive (laparoscopic) procedures, and laser surgery using the latest available equipment and technology. Surgical procedures performed at YRMC include: General Surgery, Bariatric (Weight Loss), Dental, Eye, Heart, Orthopedic, Pediatric, Podiatry, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Plastic/Reconstructive, Thoracic, Urology, Vascular and Open Heart. YRMC's surgical facilities include ten operating suites in the main operating room, two of which are dedicated to open hearts, four operating suites in the women's section, and four operating suites in the Outpatient Surgery Department. They also include three Post Anesthesia Care Units (PACUs), often called recovery rooms, where patients are cared for immediately after surgery. One PACU serves the main operating room, one is located in the outpatient surgery department and other is located in Women's Surgical Services.|
| Education Required: |
Arizona or compact state registered nurse licensure. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related field. Completion of Master’s degree in Nursing or related field within 3 years of hire. Specialty certification required as appropriate for assigned unit with active certification required at all times. Basic life support for healthcare providers and advanced life support certification(s) as appropriate & required for assigned department.
| Experience Required: |
5 years clinical (RN) nursing experience. Computer proficiency (must be able to pass YRMCCare assessment)
Nurse educator and/or leadership experience. Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record or similar electronic record systems.
