Robotics Coordinator Surgical Technologist
Under the direction of the Managers of Surgical Services and Outpatient Surgery, the Robotics Coordinator Surgical Tech organizes patient care activities and serves as the primary clinical resource to the perioperative team to provide quality surgical care. The Robotics Service Line Coordinator supports the overall coordination of the surgical specialty and actively collaborates with physicians, staff, scheduling, and leadership to facilitate the dynamic environment of robotic surgeries.
1.Demonstrates superior knowledge and proficient practice in the first scrub role in robotic surgical procedures.
2.Serves as the primary surgeon interface for the robotics service line. Collaborates with Perioperative Leadership, Materials Management, and Sterile Processing department to ensure accuracy of surgical case needs. Participates in decision-making activities related to evaluating and acquiring robotic surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies
3.Develops, organizes, and delivers continuing educational opportunities, courses, and in-service training as it relates to robotic surgeries; Collaborates with Surgical Services Clinical Nurse Expert to mentor staff and ensure competencies and completed and maintained; Collaborates with robotic surgeons for development of preference cards and ensures cards are kept up to date
4.Actively solicits surgeon and staff feedback for enhancement and improvement of the robotics service line
5.Demonstrates ability to problem solve in relation to robotic surgeries; Applies knowledge related to emergency situations and robotic procedures in the operating room; Demonstrates critical-thinking skills in relation to anticipating the perioperative needs of the patient and surgeon.
6.Demonstrates knowledge and practice of patient care concepts; Communicates effectively with those who are part of the surgical team to promotes a safe atmosphere for the patient; Collaborates with Perioperative Business Manager to review and maintain robotic surgery statistics at Yuma Regional Medical Center and reports out data on a routine basis to include but not limited to first case on time starts and turnover times
7.Serves as liaison between Surgical Services and Medical Staff to ensure all documentation is completed for new robotic surgeons, new robotic procedures, and physician proctor paperwork; Collaborates with Perioperative Leadership in the development of robotics budgetary requirements and demonstrates knowledge of department fiscal requirements; Collaborates with perioperative team and leadership for ongoing quality assurance and improvement in robotics service line.
8.Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED: High School Diploma/GED and 5+ years on the job training as a surgical technologist; Basic Life Support (BLS); Certification as a Surgical Technologist must be obtained within 6 months of hire
Work Schedule: 8-hours, Days, Monday through Friday
